Why are there meetings?
Maarten Vannesete, in his book, "Meeting Architecture," states there are three distinct reasons for every meeting. Paying attention to all three and finding the right balance is crucial.
Those three reasons or "terrains of action" as Vannesete calls them are: Learning, Networking and Motivation. The key objectives of each terrain of action includes the following:
Learning - Brainstorming, education, communicating a message, planning, problem solving and strategic development.
Networking - Meeting new clients and suppliers, making new friends, visibility, interacting and random encounters.
Motivation - Fun, celebrating, involvement, team building, changing behavior, experiences and community.
Vannesete suggests many of these meeting objectives overlap and partially fit in each of these groups. Understanding this holistic approach is what drives the ROI of meetings.
Every meeting has these three components. We create the balance and quality of these three components increasing the relevance and return on investment of your meetings.
My presentations include engaging activities, exercises, plus mini assessments and debriefings.
